Srila Prabhupada wrote more than 17 letters expressing his desire to start a center in Kanpur. To fulfill the desire of our beloved Founder-Acharya, we, his disciples, grand-disciples and followers have made the following endeavors in this direction:
In 2005 under the direction of His Grace Devakinandan Prabhu, a row house was rented to serve as an ISKCON Center. In the same year the then Commissioner, Mrs. Bhatanagar, gave 5 acres land in donation. In March 2007 Utsav murtis of Sri Sri Radha Madhavji and five devotees moved onto this land which was infested with mosquitos, rates, snakes and very austere living conditions.
Devotees' hard work changed the situation gradually, well-wishers came forward to help, and gradually more land was purchased. Presently we have more than 12 acres of land. On Vasant Panchami in 2009, the installation ceremony of Their Lordships (big marble) Sri Sri Radha-Madhava was performed. All are welcome!
